I would like to share some Chinese traditional wedding customs with you after I had a great time in my cousin’s wedding party in Ningbo on May.3rd, 2016.
The farewell meal (Shang Jiao Fan) of my cousin in red dress was fed by her “good fortune” seniority sitting on her mother’s legs, the meal consists fish and pork and very full rice cooked by her mother and father respectively. It conveys a wish from her parents-her future life filled with fishes and pork.
Carrying out by her closest relative, she can’t touch the ground with her feet until she get into the car. It conveys a wish-all the best for her future.
My aunt was putting RED Shoes on her feet. It conveys a wish-opening a new page with happiness and good fortune.
Arrived the groom’s apartment, he and his bride’s brother was carrying the blankets (Gongpo Bei) for his parents to their room, which means we will filial to our parents.
My uncle’s tears in his eyes, and their tears…However, Chinese weddings now incorporate both traditional Chinese customs and Western wedding customs.
Lele-the bride’s 7 years old brother was placed on the special chair decorated with golden pattern facing the door of the ceremony hall with the other “Jiu Lao Ye”. In China, mother’s brother’s (Jiu Jiu) play role in Chinese kinship, which represents female’s side strength.
Wonderful, Cathy got the flower! Hope she will find Her Mr. Right soon, she is still looking for…
